2024 AGM (added 03/03/24)
The 2024 AGM will take place in the Lisburn Leisure Centre on Tuesday 5th March at 7.30 PM. Full members who are unable to attend can nominate a proxy to vote on their behalf by informing the club secretary in writing, by WhapsApp, or by email to the secretary@meteorwaterski.com, specifying whom they are nominating as their proxy.
We look forward to seeing members at the meeting.
New boat for the 2024 season (added 13/03/24)
The boat is one of the most important assets the club has and for the 2024 season we will take delivery of a new Ski Nautique 200. Looking forward to seeing everyone skiing behind this beauty.
Repairs to the jetty walkway (added 13/03/24)
The existing jetty is made of wood and the years, water and weather have taken their toll on the structure. During this winter it sustained serious damage rendering it unrepairable. Work has commenced to replace the walkway with a steel frame and GRP surface. This is a significant financial investment and we have applied to several organisations for grant funding to help with the cost.

The 2024 AGM took place in the Lisburn Leisure Centre on Tuesday 5th March at 7.30 PM. Thanks to everyone who attended in person or nominated a proxy attendance.

2024 Membership Renewals (added 09/04/24)
2024 Membership renewal invitations have been emailed to all 2023 members. If you haven’t noticed it. check your Junk mail folder in case it landed. Also, note there is a new membership category, ‘Recreational Member’, for swimmers and SUP users.
Update on the jetty replacement project (added 09/04/24)
New foundation piles for the replacement jetty walkway are in place, however, the poor weather and high water level has halted the construction work resulting in a delay to the start of this year’s season. When the water level drops the work will continue and, weather permitting, the walkway will be available for use at the beginning of May. Hopefully by then the weather will have improved and the water temperature increased.
Phase 1 of the new jetty is complete (added 02/05/24)
Thanks to Robert and Barry for their excellent work in designing and building the new jetty walkway, which is now ready for members to use. Phase 2, the replacement of the jetty head, will be undertaken at the end of the season.
Boat Launch (added 02/05/24)
The boat is now on the lake ready to start the 2024 season. The water is still a bit chilly at 12c, however the driver rota starts on Tuesday 7 May, with a driver on duty from 18.45 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and from 13.45 on Saturday and Sunday. To ski outside of these times simply contact one of the drivers to find out their availability to give you a tow.
We’re looking forward to helping everyone have a great experience at the club, and there’s always coaching available from the drivers to help you improve, whatever your discipline.
First skiers hit the water (added 04/05/24)
With the season now started, the water at 15c and the weather improving, the first members are back in the water. Why not dust down your gear and head for the lake.
Meteor Flood Damage Grant (added 02/07/24)
Meteor applied to the Lisburn City Council flooding hardship fund to assist with the repairs required to the clubhouse after the winter storms flooding damage. We have been awarded a grant towards the repairs which will take place over the summer.
British Canoe Foundation Funding (added 02/07/24)
Meteor has secured a grant of £7500 from the British Canoe Foundation to assist with the reconstruction of our walkway and jetty head. The funding will ensure that the new jetty will accommodate various water user groups including water-skiing, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming and kayaking. This was a joint application with Belfast Canoe Club who are also based at Lough Henney. You can read more here.
Club Open Day (added 18/07/24)
The Club is inviting anyone who would like to give the sport of waterskiing and wakeboarding a go to come along to our Open Day on Saturday the 27 July from 10 am to 1 pm. No previous experience is necessary. All equipment is supplied (wetsuits & skies/boards) at the cost of £25 adult and £20 under 18. So, book your place, invite your friends, and give it a go.

Arrival of the new boat (added 19/07/24)
The chairperson will be traveling to Wales on Wednesday 23 July to collect our new boat. If all goes to plan it will be at the club around 8.30 pm on Wednesday evening. Everyone is welcome to come along and watch the launch. There might even be some bubbly on the go.
Open Day 27 July 2024 (added 30/07/24)
The Open Day, held on Saturday, 27 July was a fantastic success with young skiers taking to the water on skis and wakeboards. Everyone successfully skied thanks to Jonathan’s expert coaching with Des driving, and the sun even came out for us. We look forward to welcoming all our guests back again, and anyone else would like to give waterskiing a go. Just contact us here.
Slalom League Competition 3 August 2024 (added 30/07/24)
This Saturday Meteor will host an all-day round of the Irish Waterski & Wakeboard Federation SlalomLeague. This event caters for all levels of skiers from top Irish skiers to those who ski just for fun, and those who are just learning. You can contact us to enter here, and entry is free for ladies. So why not enter or come along and watch the action which kicks off at 9 am. Everyone is welcome.
Children's Day 8 August 2024 (added 30/07/24)
On Thursday 8th August we are hosting a Children's Day when under 18s of all waterskiing abilities are invited to come and take part for the discounted rate of £20! Wetsuits, life jackets and coaching is available!

Her Outdoors Event 17 August 2024 (added 02/08/24)
The club will be hosting an event as part of the HER Outdoors initiative supported by the Irish Waterski & Wakeboard Federation and Sport Ireland. The event is targeted at ladies of all ages and abilities, offering the opportunity to try the sport of waterskiing. To book your place contact us here or via Facebook. Limited slots available.
Slalom League Competition 3 August 2024 (added 04/08/24)
Meteor was delighted to welcome 19 skiers from clubs across Ireland to the 3rd round of the Irish Waterski Slalom League. Competitors ranged from 13 years of age upwards, with a wide range of abilities from mini course skiers up to short line skiers running 55km and 58km. The day started at 9am and finished at 6.30pm with lots of sunshine and a moderate breeze providing good water conditions for all the skiers. An added incentive, provided by the IrWWF Women In Sport grant, allowed female skiers to compete for free. Thanks to Stuart, Colin, Jonathan, Barry, Ivan, Richard and Des for their work throughout the day. Looking forward to the next round at Stillwaters Waterski & Wakeboard Centre on the 24 August.

Young Person's Day 8 August 2024 (added 09/09/24)
On Saturday 8 August the club was delighted to host 16 young people ranging in age from 10 to 18 years of age to our annual Young Persons Day. The weather was better than forecast and the water was a pleasant 19c. Everyone did extremely well skiing on the training boom and the long line with lots of proud parents and grandparents. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the club in the future.

Healthy Oceans Event 10 August 2024 (added 10/08/24)
On Saturday 10 August the club, in conjunction with Live Here Love Here, Healthy Oceans Health Minds welcomed 16 young adults to try waterskiing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day with warm sunshine and warm water. If you enjoyed your experience, why not come back and have another go.

Her Outdoors Event 12 - 18 August 2024 (updated 20/08/24)
The club was delighted to welcome female waterskiers during the HER Outdoors promotion which was supported by the Irish Waterski & Wakeboard Federation and Sport Ireland. The event was targeted at ladies of all ages and abilities, offering the opportunity to try the sport of waterskiing and perhaps sparking an interest in the sport. Hopefully we will be welcoming some of the skiers back to Meteor in the future.

1st Ballynahinch Presbyterian Youth Group Event 26 August 2024 (updated 26/08/24)
There is no better way to start the week than waterskiing at Meteor. This morning, we were delighted to host the 1st Ballynahinch Presbyterian Youth group to the club. With Jonathan coaching and Des driving, everyone successfully waterskied, wakeboarded and kneeboarded. Well done, everyone 👏 we look forward to seeing you all back on the water soon
